Yes — that's the core of what we do. Paddway Roadworks repairs potholes on private tarmac driveways, commercial car parks, private roads, estate access, industrial yards and farm tracks. If you own the surface, we can fix it. We don't repair public highway potholes — those go to the council — but everything on private land is in scope.

Who is responsible for repairing potholes on private roads and driveways?

The landowner or the party responsible for the road is liable — not the council. For a private driveway that's the homeowner. For a car park, that's the business or facilities manager. For an unadopted private road, that's usually the residents' association or the estate owner. If you're not sure who's responsible for a surface you use, check your deeds or management agreement.

How much does it cost to repair a pothole in a private driveway or car park?

It depends on size, depth, access, how many holes there are, and the material used. Single driveway potholes are usually the lowest cost per hole. Multi-hole commercial car park jobs are priced per m² or as a day rate because the mobilisation cost is spread across more work. We send a written, itemised quote after a free site visit — no hidden extras.

How long does a pothole repair last?

A properly-done repair — cut out, tack-coated, hot-rolled asphalt, compacted — should last as long as the surface around it, often 5-10 years depending on traffic and drainage. A bad repair (cold bag shovelled in and walked on) typically fails inside 12 months. The difference is the prep work, not the material cost.

Can you repair potholes in a tarmac driveway, a block paving driveway, or a concrete surface?

Tarmac and hot-rolled asphalt surfaces are the most common repair job and the quickest turnaround. Block paving damage is a re-lay job, not a pothole repair — we lift the affected blocks, reset the sub-base and re-lay. Concrete surfaces normally need a cut-out and concrete patch or resin repair depending on the failure. We'll advise on the site visit.

How quickly can you attend a commercial car park pothole that's a trip hazard?

We prioritise commercial sites where there's a public liability or trip hazard risk. Standard response is a site visit within days of your call. For urgent trip hazards we'll aim to book the repair as soon as the site visit is done — talk to us about your timeline and we'll flex to fit.

Do you offer ongoing pothole maintenance contracts for commercial car parks?

Yes — for facilities managers and multi-site estate owners we'll run an annual inspection and repair contract. Every 6-12 months we walk the site, log defects, and repair them in one visit. That's normally cheaper than emergency patching and it keeps the public liability exposure documented and managed.

Public highways are the local council's responsibility. In Nottinghamshire that's Nottinghamshire County Council Highways; in Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire County Council; in South Yorkshire, your local unitary authority. Site visit

We come out, measure each pothole or patch, check the sub-base, and write a quote. Free of charge.

Cut out and prep

We saw-cut a clean rectangle around the failed area down to sound material. Loose fragments and water are removed.

Tack coat

A bitumen tack coat goes onto the cut edges and base so the new material bonds to the old.

Fill with hot-rolled asphalt or matched material

For permanent repairs we use hot-rolled asphalt or a matched cold-lay where hot material isn't feasible.

Compact and finish

Compacted with a vibrating plate or roller, sealed at the edges, finished flush with the surrounding surface. Surface usable within hours.
