Imprinted concrete — also called street print, printed concrete or pattern-imprinted concrete (PIC) — is a decorative surfacing technique where wet concrete is pressed with rubber mats to create the look of block paving, natural stone, cobbles or brick. Once sealed, it's a single monolithic slab that mimics the look of individually laid elements at a lower cost per square metre than block paving.

It's the specialty finish for customers who want a decorative driveway without the price of block or resin bound. Common across Retford, Newark, Mansfield and Lincoln — particularly for period properties where the imprinted pattern complements the building's age.

Block paving patterns

Imprinted to mimic standard block paving at roughly 70% of the cost. Herringbone, stretcher bond, and ashlar patterns all common. From a distance, indistinguishable from block paving.

Natural stone patterns

Yorkshire stone, flagstone, random riven slate — imprinted to mimic the irregular edges and varied sizes of natural stone patios and driveways.

Custom colours and borders

Imprinted concrete is coloured both through the mix (base colour) and with surface release agents (highlight colour). We can set in contrast borders, house numbers and feature panels at pour.

Imprinted concrete typically sits between tarmac and block paving per square metre fitted. The variables are: drive size, pattern complexity, colour choice (single-colour vs two-tone), reinforcement requirements, and edge detailing. The sub-base and steel reinforcement are what the customer doesn't see — they usually account for 30-35% of the job cost but they're what stop the slab cracking under load.
